 View of an early airplane in flight. This airplane is probably the June Bug, w hich was was designed by Glenn Curtiss of the Aerial Experiment Association (AE A). Alexander Graham Bell, Frederick Baldwin, Thomas Selfridge, Douglas McCurd y, and Glenn Curtiss formed the AEA. The AEA did much of its work at Hammondsport, New York . The June Bug is famous for winning the Scientific American Trophy in the Spr int of 1908. This photograph was taken by H. M. Benner in 1908. A previous le gend identifies this plane as the AEAs Silver Dart, however, this is probably the J une Bug. |
